Antique Charleston Courting (a.k.a. Joggling) bench. About 10 feet in length, each of the courting couple sat at opposite ends and rock back and forth sideways while gently (or not) bouncing up and down Because of the flexibility of the plank the couple would gradually slide toward the middle, then ........ We purchased this one in Charleston in 1999 It was on a front porch of one of the downtown classic harbor-front Charleston homes. In fact, a photo of it appeared in one of the Southern Living magazines prior to our purchase but we no longer have the magazine. It was painted black when we bought it and have never repainted it Small chip on top of one rocker post but otherwise in good condition. Prefer cash but will consider cashiers check.
